Fall Into Reading 2007

I'm a pretty big reader. I've always got at least one book in my rotation. I've never participated in a reading challenge before, but I'm up for some good fun!

My baby's due December 1, and I know the reading will stop for a while after that. I won't be reading anything at the December 21 deadline, I'm sure! Because I'll lose a few weeks, my list will be a bit modest. My first thought was to put 10 books on this list, but I'll be realistic and leave it at seven (now it's grown to eight!). I can do that. If I go over the eight, I'll just pat myself on the back and take myself to Starbucks (like I need an excuse for that)! So here's my list!

TO READ
1. Time to Be in Earnest by P.D. James (started before the challenge)
2. The Hidden Art of Homemaking by Edith Schaeffer
3. The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini
4. Playing for Pizza by John Grisham (I gave up on this one; too much football!!)
5. On Chesil Beach by Ian McEwan
6. Fourth Comings by Megan McCafferty
FINISHED
1. Charmed Thirds by Megan McCafferty (finished 9/27/07)
2. The Memory Keeper's Daughter by Kim Edwards (finished 10/16/07)

If you want to participate, go to Callapidder Days for the info and the Mr. Linky!

EDIT 03/15/08 - Ahahahaha! What was I thinking? A new baby and reading? Riiiight!

I am a MS girl too. I am looking forward to the new John Grisham book ... my name is first on the library list. I have seen The Kite Runner on several lists. It is very different than what I normally read so I am not sure about that one for me. :)

I'm seeing The Kite Runner on lots of lists. Yay! If you manage to get all those in before the baby comes and need to pick up another one, try that author's second book -- A Thousand Splendid Suns. I liked it as much, if not more, than The Kite Runner. :)

Seven books sounds just right, with a baby on the way! When my second son was born, I was surprised at how much reading I was able to do. He had this habit of only wanting to sleep on my lap for the first few weeks (during the day), so I just got in the habit of keeping a book nearby. :) Thanks for joining the challenge!

Kite Runner is on my list, too, and seems to be a pretty popular choice. You may be surprised at the reading time you can fit in with a newborn! Good luck in December!

When my kids were younger I gave up sleep in order to read! I just finished The Memory Keeper's Daughter and am looking forward to Playing for Pizza. Happy Reading.

I have just now gotten back into reading. I haven't been able to sit down with a book in a long time. I'm currently reading Nineteen Minutes by Jodi Picoult. My sister loves her books and so I thought I'd try reading a couple. The next want I want to read is Salem Falls..

But I am a huge horror fan so I like anything by Stephen King. He just has such a way of bringing you into his books.

Oh, by the way, I found your site via themomblogs and I'm also from Mississippi :D.

Congrats on your coming babe. I have a Christmas Day child, so I know how busy it is.

I really liked Memory Keeper's Daughter. Happy fall reading.

I'm with you on a short reading list. My daughter is due October 17th so who knows how far I will get in my list. The Kite Runner had disturbing scenes but was very good. I've tried to get into Memory Keepers Daughter but just haven't, hopefully I can get into this time. Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy!
